Ensuring the social protection of internally displaced persons is one of the key priorities of the state policy. The Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the Social Protection of Internally Displaced Persons and Persons Equated to Them" provides for a number of social protection measures for former internally displaced persons. One of these measures is the unified monthly allowance, which is financed from the state budget and paid to internally displaced persons who are in need of social protection. The State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan regularly holds meetings with community representatives and elders at the places where former internally displaced persons are temporarily registered. During these meetings, participants are provided with detailed information on social protection measures, including the statutory expiry periods for the unified monthly allowance, the calculation of those periods, the legal basis and necessity of the relevant provisions, as well as issues related to the Great Return process. Accordingly, the next meeting was held at the administrative building of the former Light Construction Structures Plant in Khirdalan, where internally displaced persons are temporarily accommodated. Representatives of the relevant structural division of the State Committee provided internally displaced persons with detailed information on social protection measures and the Great Return Programme, and answered their questions.
