Ensuring the social protection of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) remains one of the key priorities of the Government of Azerbaijan. The Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Social Protection of Internally Displaced Persons and Persons Equal to Them provides for a range of social protection measures for former IDPs. One of these measures is the unified monthly allowance, financed from the state budget and provided to eligible former internally displaced persons in need of social support.
The State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons regularly holds meetings with community representatives and elders at the temporary places of registration of former IDPs. During these meetings, participants receive detailed information on social protection measures, including the statutory duration of the unified monthly allowance, the commencement and expiry of the eligibility period, the legal basis and rationale for these provisions, as well as matters related to the Great Return process.
As part of these outreach activities, another awareness meeting was held at the dormitories located at 11 J. Khanmammadov Street and 12 7th Sahil Lane, Hovsan Settlement, Surakhani District, Baku, where former internally displaced persons are temporarily accommodated.
Representatives of the relevant structural unit of the State Committee provided detailed information on social protection measures and the Great Return, and answered questions raised by the participants.
